2021 will for sure go down in our books as a crazy kinda normal year and part of that normal was going to the movies again. Yet what movie made the most money this year, was best rated, and watched the most?

What movie made the most amount of money this year?
Spider-Man, No Way Home!
It made a whopping $613,600,664 just in 2021 alone.
Making it the 3rd highest-grossing Marvel movie ever
Boasting the position of the biggest opening ever for Sony’s Columbia Pictures
While also being the biggest December movie opening of all time
Fun Fact: 90% of all moviegoers went to see the 3rd movie of the spiderman franchise!

Not everyone will be interested in the crazy and unexpected adventures of spiderman. So what animated movie made the most money this year? That would be Disney's Encanto, most known for its newly successful hit song, “We don't talk about Bruno.” In addition, it already has a number of other recognitions as well.
3 Grammy nominations
Soundtrack is #1 on the Billboard charts
Made $222,870,311 in the box office worldwide
Won best-animated feature this year at the Grammys
FUN FACT: Did you know that Encanto translates to charm in Spanish
Most have seen the movies on this list so far, however, one movie didn’t exactly have the critics raving last year! That would be Chaos Walking. Have you heard of it? Probably not. Let's see why below.

Had a massive production budget of one hundred and twenty-five million dollars
Only generated 26.5 million dollars globally
With 13.3 million alone in the US
Received only a 21% on rotten tomatoes
Most claim the poor ratings and viewing were due to the non-engaging plot that was hard to follow, eventually leaving critics lost. However, the new and engaging cast of Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley seemed to be the only element driving traction to the cinematic flop.
